The EKG Technician Program will train the students to perform patient assessments, identify abnormalities of the cardiovascular system, interpret basic arrhythmias, perform and interpret electrocardiograph (EKG) results which will help the students become members of the healthcare delivery team in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices and cardiac rehabilitation centers. The EKG technician will be able to recognize emergencies and alert the physician who will determine the need for possible further invasive testing. The EKG technician will learn to prepare the patient for the exam by attaching electrodes to the chest, arms and legs. He will learn to detect abnormalities or false readings in the electrocardiogram and to correct technical errors. After completion of the course, the student will be eligible to take the national licensure exam through National Healthcareer Association.
